The EnvLogger system is composed of a miniaturized and rugged temperature logger and by a companion smartphone app. Both were designed with emphasis on reliability and ease of use. The logger communicates with a smartphone using wireless Near Field Communication technology. To communicate, it is only necessary to “tap” the loggers with the smartphone.
EnvLoggers are available in two hardware formats, T2.4 and T7.3.
T7.3 is vastly superior to T2.4 in terms of memory, battery life and clock drift, but is slightly larger and more expensive.
Both hardware versions (T2.4 and T7.3) can be supplied in a virtually endless variety of shapes and colors. These can be grouped in three main categories:
The hard acrylic disks are completely watertight and can be deployed in dusty, subaquatic, UV-rich or even moderately corrosive environments. They are also quite resistant to mechanical stress, and because communication is wireless, they can be embedded in hard materials such as rocks (or made into biomimetic loggers). Have a look below for a comparative table between the various formats readily available. Custom-made formats are available upon request.
EnvLoggers communicate via a dedicated app, freely available for Android and iOS smartphones. On your smartphone, go to the Android's PlayStore or to the iOS App Store and download the app EnvLogger Viewer. If your smartphone is not compatible, the app will not show up on the store. Keep the app updated to benefit from new features.
With the dedicated smartphone app, logger servicing is extremely quick and easy. This, in turn, facilitates the establishment and maintenance of large networks of loggers serviced by multiple scientists and/or citizens.
