ElectricBlue, directly or through several of its members (as Principal Investigators), has been developing innovative solutions to overcome critical technologically-driven research bottlenecks. This includes the development of the first reasonably-priced shark tracking device that records oxygen concentration levels in addition to position, temperature, depth and acceleration, which is invaluable for the study of how the ongoing, climate change-driven expansion of the oxygen minimum zones across the oceans is likely to impact large marine predators. It also includes the ground-up design of a family of extremely rugged temperature loggers with wireless communication that is changing how intertidal ecologists monitor temperature in wave-exposed rocky shores.
